The Ayta MAGBUKON occupies the Bataan Peninsula since time immemorial owing to the origin of its name which means “to separate” from the rest of the Ayta language groups. The Ayta Magbukon retained vast tracts of their ancestral land and continue to coexist with the lowland population surrounding them. Development in the province offered new opportunities to the people but also irreversibly changed some aspects of the Ayta Magbukon indigenous culture including its language.
