16 November 2023 | The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) attended the Community Relations Conference’s (ComRelCon) as part of the 69th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC) in CAP-John Hay Trade and Cultural Center, Camp John Hay, Baguio City.
The event was hosted by the Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA), with the a theme, “Mining 4.0: Safer, Smarter, and Sustainable” underscores mining’s best practices, commitment to safety, and sustainable mining; further, it also explores collaborative efforts with partner communities, local government units, private corporations, academe and other stakeholders.
Chairperson Jennifer Pia Sibug-Las provided a keynote speech relative to the direction and performance of the mandates of NCIP in connection to mining and other related development projects.
Also in attendance during the event were US Ambassador to the Philippines Marykay Loss Carlson, PMSEA President Engr. Luis R. Sarmiento, DENR-MGB CAR Regional Director Fay W. Apil, DENR MGB OIC Dir. Atty. Danilo U. Uykieng; NCIP Commissioners Gaspar Cayat and Atty.
