11 December 2023 | The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), Department of Health (DOH), and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) conducted an Orientation on the Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) 2013-01 and its Indigenous Peoples (IP) Strategic Plan for Health at the NCIP Central Office in Quezon City.
The JMC aims to set the guidelines that will address access, utilization, coverage, and equity issues in the provision of basic healthcare, to achieve better health outcomes, for our Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs).
In her message, NCIP Chairperson Jennifer Pia Sibug-Las underscored that the JMC paved the way for collective commitment to ensure not just access but quality, safe, and culturally sensitive essential health services for Indigenous communities; further, she encouraged all partner agencies to unite efforts to ensure that the Indigenous Peoples’ health agenda becomes an integral part of our health governance landscape, fostering inclusivity and wellness for all.
