12 September 2023 | National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Region VI/VII documented first Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) selection of Ati Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) in Dumarao, Capiz.
The activity is a realization of right to self-governance and empowerment of Ati ICCs/IPs to freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development.
To conclude the selection, through their traditional consensus-building mechanism, the community selected Mr. Pablito M. Escona to be IPMR and a new member of Sangguniang Bayan member of Dumarao.
