18 August 2023 | National Commission on Indigenous Peoples – Region XII (NCIP XII) participated in the Investiture Ceremony of Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco in Kadayawan Tribal Village, Davao City.
The ceremony was part of Kadayawan Festival to recognize and respect the efforts of DOT Secretary to Obu-Manuvu Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs). Elders and Leaders of Obu-Manuvu invested a title to Sec. Frasco as “BAE MAHUMANOY,” meaning protector of the culture, environment, and someone who promotes the development and cultural preservation of the Ancestral Domain (AD) of the Manuvus.
To conclude the ceremony, Sec. Frasco received a head gear which represents her leadership, bracelets in performing her duties with happiness, necklace and belt of beads symbolizing her strength and pure intentions for Obu-Manuvu ICCs/IPs.
