On August 1, 2024, the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) met with Family Search International (FSI) to discuss preparations for the National Indigenous Peoples Day (NIPD) and International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples (IDWIP).

 

The FSI, as one of NCIP’s stakeholder-partner, will be part of the agency’s NIPD and IDWIP commemoration program highlighting their efforts to trace Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) genealogy. This is part of NCIP’s program to further provide targeted services for ICCs/IPs in the country.

 

Overall, all the commemoration aims to foster awareness, collaboration, strengthen advocacies to strengthen the promotion of IP rights, safeguard ICCs/IPs from threats and uplift their well-being.
