The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) and Biomanila Inc. signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) solidifying their partnership to intensify a stronger alliance and give full support in providing socio-economic services in agricultural technology and other sustainable projects to the Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs).

Representing the NCIP were Chairperson Allen Capuyan, together with OIC-Executive Director Caesar M. Ortega. Present for Biomanila, Inc. is Chairperson Serafia D. Cobbarubias with Chief Chief Executive Officer Mr. Richard O. Cabael.

Gracing the event are NCIP Commissioners, Gaspar A. Cayat, Ethnographic Commissioner for CAR and Region I, Jennifer Pia Sibug-Las, Ethnographic Commissioner for Central Mindanao, Simplicia Hagada Ethnographic Commissioner for Region 2, Rhodex Valenciano, Commissioner for Region 3 and the Rest of Luzon, Jeorge M. Largado Ethnographic Commissioner of the Island group and Visayas, and Pinky Grace P. Pareja Ethnographic Commissioner for Regions 9 and 10.

Officers of Biomanila namely, Ms. Giselle Arroyo, General Manager, Mr. Christopher Asis, Administrative and Operations Manager, Ms. Winelda Ycoy, Accounting Supervisor, and Mr. Ern Gregorio, IT Manager, were also present during the signing ceremony. While Biomanila founders Dr. Joel Jack, Dr. Irene Jack, and Ms. Karen Jack attended via Zoom.

The MOA provides a key role for ICCs/IPs to attain President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr’s plan to ensure food security and nutrition through attaining sufficient supply and stable supply of food commodities; expanding access to affordable, safe, and nutritious food; and improving nutrition across all ages. It also advances the competitive advantage and livelihoods of IP farmers and fisherfolks as contributors to the country’s food security goals.

After the ceremony, Biomanila Inc. also received Project Epanaw’s Three (3) Coffee Table Books (CTBs) “Pagkilala”, “Paggalang”, and “Pagtaguyod” through the NCIP Chairperson.
