NCIP CHAIRPERSON SIBUG-LAS ATTENDED 6th PUBLIC HISTORY SYMPOSIUM

13 November 2023 | The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Chairperson Jennifer Pia Sibug-Las attended the 6th Public History Symposium at the University of the Philippines, Quezon City.
With a theme, “Navigating Pre-Colonial History in the Public Realm” it focused on the importance of pre-colonial studies in shaping understandings of history, culture, and identity; also, the symposium honors the retiring Professor of the UP Department of History and outgoing Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy, Maria Bernadette L. Abrera, Ph.D.
NCIP Chairperson Sibug-Las joined the panel of discussant, together with public historian advocates of pre-colonial culture in the country, she delivered her lecture entitled “Customary Laws and the Indigenous Peoples”.
To cap the activity, Chairperson Sibug-Las and Office on Education, Culture, and Health (OECH) Director Mary Grace Buasen provided two sets of Project Epanaw Coffee Table Books (CTBs).
