NCIP-DA-DENR-NCCA Joint Memorandum Circular on Rules and Regulations Signing Ceremony

The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and National Commission on Culture and Arts (NCCA) officially signed the Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) on the Rules and Regulations Governing the Recognition and Confirmation of Nationally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (NIAHS) and Providing Appropriate Mechanisms for their Dynamic Conservation and Sustainable Use, on 10 March 2023, at the Luxent Hotel, Quezon City.
This JMC will give Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) appropriate mechanisms for the Dynamic Conservation and Sustainable Management of their Ancestral Domains.
 
NCIP Chairperson expressed his gratitude to the attendees for being part of the momentous event and looked forward in promoting the rights of ICCs/IPs to own, develop, and protect their ADs/ALs by providing them with sufficient knowledge and capacities beneficial to their overall-welfare, as well as address the country’s clarion call on food security.
This activity was supported by the “Dynamic Conservation and Sustainable Use of Agrobiodiversity in Traditional Agro-Ecosystems of the Philippines”, a project implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the Philippine Government through the DA- Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR), with funding support from the Global Environment Facility.
 
After the ceremony, the NCIP Chairperson turned over sets of Project Epanaw’s three Coffee Table Books.
