The NCIP participated to the “International Meeting on Best Practices of Ulayat Land Registration in Indonesia and ASEAN Countries (Socialization of Ulayat Land in Indonesia).
The event aimed to share and seek insights, and enhance understanding and knowledge regarding the best practices of customary land registration in Indonesia and other ASEAN Countries.
Delegates came from different countries and had the opportunity to visit Kampong Naga Customary Law Community in Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java.
This event also marked the initial introduction for the formation of a learning hub for ASEAN countries in the land and spatial planning sector in Jakarta.
Representing the NCIP were Ethnographic Commissioner for Region 3 and the rest of Luzon Atty. Rhodex P. Valenciano, Ethnographic Commissioner for Northern and Western Mindanao Atty. Pinky Grace Pareja-Pabelic, Foreign Assisted Programs and International Relations Office (FAPIRO) Director Dahlialyn D Dait-Cawed, MNSA, Ancestral Domains Office (ADO) Director Arthur K. Herman, and Legal Affairs Office-Public Assistance Division Chief, Atty. Rizzabel M. Aguilar.
NCIP also took the opportunity to promote partnerships with other ASEAN countries towards the protection and promotion of the interest and well-being of Indigenous Cultural Communities in the country.
Carrying the Filipino IP pride, the NCIP gave tokens of appreciation including sets of Project Epanaw’s Coffee Table Books to Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono from the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency of Indonesia.
