NCIP ENGAGEMENT MEETING WITH HIGAONON ICCs/IPs OF MT MAYAPAY, BUTUAN CITY REGARDING THE STATUS OF TWO (2) SEPARATE CADT APPLICATIONS – Day 2, Session 1

13 May | The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) conducted 2nd day of Ancestral Domain (AD) visitation meetings with Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) at the Agusan del Norte Provincial Economic Enterprise Development and Management Office in Butuan City.

The NCIP Chairperson led the activity along with NCIP XIII Regional Director Ordonio P. Rocero, Jr.; while Chairman Lipatuan Joel Unad represented Mindanao Indigenous Council of Elders and Leaders (MIPCEL); also present were Elders and Tribal Leaders and NCIP Regional and Provincial staff. The rest joined the meeting through zoom.

The discussions focused on the status of separate CADT applications of the Talibong Clan and Tangigad Clan Higaonon ICCs/IPs.

It was advised that both parties should conduct dialogue to decide whether to consolidate or proceed with separate CADT application; such must be accompanied by a resolution from both clans and submit to NCIP for the issuance of necessary directives to field offices. As to representatives from the Tangigad clan who were not present during the meeting, a separate dialogue meeting will be held on 14 May 2023.
