NCIP ENGAGEMENT MEETING WITH MANOBO ICCs/IPs OF BUNAWAN, AGUSAN DEL SUR REGARDING THE STATUS OF ANCESTRAL LAND CLAIM AND ROYALTY SHARES ISSUES – Day 2, Session 2
 
13 May | The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) conducted 2nd day of Ancestral Domain (AD) visitation meetings with Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) at the Agusan del Norte Provincial Economic Enterprise Development and Management Office in Butuan City.
 
The NCIP Chairperson led the activity along with NCIP XIII Regional Director Ordonio P. Rocero, Jr.; while Chairman Lipatuan Joel Unad represented Mindanao Indigenous Council of Elders and Leaders (MIPCEL); also present were Elders and Tribal Leaders and NCIP Regional and Provincial staff. The rest joined the meeting through zoom.
 
The discussion was on the Ancestral Land Claim of Caliwaan Clan covering portions of CADT 136, CADT 078, and portions of Tagbina, Surigao del Sur; and concerns on Royalty Shares of the Caliwaan Clan from Philsaga Mining Corporation (PMC) operating within their ancestral land claim in CADT 136.
 
The Chairperson directed NCIP Region XIII to conduct investigation and formulate a Community Royalty Development Plan (CRDP) to establish policies on disbursement and sharing schematic of the royalty from PMC. With regards to their AD Claim, Provincial Delineation Team (PDT) will submit a validation report to NCIP Regional Office for review.
