14 May | The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) conducted 3rd day of Ancestral Domain (AD) visitation with Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) in Provincial Training Center, Capitol Grounds, Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, Caraga Region.

 

The NCIP Chairperson led the activity along with NCIP XIII Regional Director Ordonio P. Rocero, Jr.; also present were Elders and Tribal Leaders and NCIP Regional and Provincial staff. The rest joined the meeting through zoom.

 

The discussion were on the status of the CADT application of the Talibong and Tangigad Clan – covering Mt. Mayapay and Barangay Simbalan, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte, respectively; and Mt. Mayapay as a Military Reservation.

 

Chairperson instructed the NCIP Regional Office to invite Ininay/Inamay of the adjacent Higaonon Ancestral Domains of the two CADT applications. This is to further validate historical accounts as additional basis on a unified or separate CADT application. As to the issue on military reservation, NCIP Region XII will submit a report to NCIP Central Office – Ancestral Domain Office’s (ADO) to facilitate appropriate action on the matter.
