23 JANUARY 2024 | The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), through Office on Education, Culture, and Health Director Mary Grace P. Buasen and staff, met with the Ayala Museum.
The meeting aimed to discuss possible areas of collaboration on ensuring the cultural heritage of Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs), whose material culture is represented in their collections will be free from misrepresentation.
NCIP and the Ayala Museum will be working together on significant mutual undertakings which may include orientation/training on cultural sensitivity and museum establishment and maintenance, as well as fostering proper engagement with our ICCs/IPs.
To conclude the engagement, Ms. Marinella Andrea Mina of Ayala Museum provided a handbook entitled, “Making Museums Work: A Zero-in Handbook,” and a tour on the Ayala Museum was also provided to the NCIP delegation. In return, the Research and Publications of the Museum received a set of Project Epanaw’s Three Coffee Table Books and copies of 2020 – 2022 Agency Annual Accomplishment Reports from the NCIP.
