The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) led by Mr. Umit Mansiz, Country Director for the Philippines, convened for a Consultative Meeting in the Formulation of the International Fund Agricultural Development (IFAD) Country Strategic Opportunities Programme (PHL COSOP).
The COSOP Team Leader, Ms. Dorothy Lucks, shared the overview of the COSOP and their experiences in its implementation engaging IP communities.
NCIP Chairperson imparted several key points pertaining to agriculture and biodiversity linkages, sustainable value chains, and development plans and projects involving Indigenous Peoples. He also shared the importance of the 11 Building Blocks (11BBs) of Resilient, Responsive, and Relevant ICCs/IPs in their Ancestral Domains, and the role of IP Youth in the society in general.
Areas of cooperation/collaboration were discussed fueled towards empowering IP communities.
The NCIP turned over sets of Project Epanaw’s Three (3) Coffee Table Books (CTBs), 2021 Annual Report, and Posters of the 11BBs to the IFAD.
