The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) led by the Chairperson joins the Opening Ceremony in the Celebration of the 8th Organic Agriculture Month spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture (DA), National Organic Agriculture Program (NOAP) on 07 November 2022 at the DA Main Building Lobby, DA, Elliptical Road, Diliman, Quezon City.
The Organic Agriculture Month, bearing the theme “Maunlad na Pagsasaka, Garantisado sa Organikong Agrikulturang Pananaliksik”, aims to increase knowledge and awareness of organic agriculture technologies and research. The program has been part of the main thrusts of DA in order to propagate and support the organic agriculture industry in the country through various activities and campaigns in line with RA 10068 also known as the Organic Agriculture Act of 2010.
Senator Cynthia A. Villar, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Food, and Agrarian Reform, was the keynote speaker. She stated: “Our Indigenous Peoples or Katutubo with their traditional organic practices which are not using chemicals can sit in the National Organic Agriculture Board to support”.
NCIP Chairperson Capuyan graced his interest and generosity while visiting the exhibit showcasing local organic produce and products as well as the technologies and research developed by different regions.
After the ceremony, Senator Villar received Project Epanaw’s Three (3) Coffee Table Books (CTBs) “Pagkilala”, “Paggalang”, and “Pagtaguyod” through the NCIP Chairperson.
