30 June 2023 | The NCIP Chairperson graced the celebration of the NAPC’s 25th Founding Anniversary held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Ortigas.
The NAPC’s silver anniversary is capped with the theme “One Flag, One Nation, One People: Unity in Eradicating Poverty” (Isang Bandila, Nagkakaisang Bansa, Nagkakabuklod na Sambayanan: Sama-sama sa Pagsugpo ng Kahirapan).
During the celebration, the NCIP through Chairperson Capuyan gifted the NAPC with sets of 3-volume Coffee Table Books that showcases the Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs), their pristine and relevant indigenous knowledge systems and practices, and their existing and potential contributions to sustainable development.
The first coffee table book, “Pagkilala” (Recognize), showcases the profiles of each ICCs/IPs. It contains information about their history, location, and overview of their social and daily lives.
The second coffee table book, “Paggalang” (Respect), features festivals and rituals that the ICCs/IPs practice in relation to important events such as birth and death, agricultural cycle, and the sacred and profane.
The third coffee table book, “Pagtaguyod” (Promote), contains travel destinations in ancestral domains including the lesser known tourist attractions for eco-tourism.
Additionally, the NCIP distributed posters of the 11 Building Blocks that highlights the NCIPs Framework for a Resilient, Responsive and Relevant ICCs/IPs in their Ancestral Domains; and the NCIPs Annual Reports containing the NCIPs accomplishments for its efforts in eradicating poverty among the Indigenous Peoples, hence, it contributes to the NAPC’s vision of a society free from poverty and inequality.
The NAPC Lead Convenor, Secretary Lope B. Santos III, together with Mr. Ruperto “Ka Uper” B. Aleroza, Vice Chairperson for the Basic Sectors, Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr., Vice Chairperson for the Government Sector, and SR Judith P. Maranes, IP Sector Representative received the kind gesture bestowed by the NCIP.
Ms. Glenda Alcantara Pua of NCIP OSESSC and Ms. Chatty Decena of NCIP OPPR were also present to join the celebration.
