NCIP PARTICIPATED IN DAVAO DE ORO’S KAIMUNAN FESTIVAL

22 June 2023 | National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Chairperson was the Guest of Honor at the 10th “Al’law ng Tipanod” in Kaimunan Festival or IP Day of Mansaka and Kagan Tribes in the Municipal Gymnasium of Maco, Davao De Oro.

Representing NCIP were Chairperson Capuyan together with Regional Director (RD) Mumar Mamukid, RD Atty. Amilbansa Bagadi, Provincial Officer (PO) of Davao de Oro, and other NCIP employees of Maragusan and Mabini Community Service Centers (CSC).

In attendance for the Local Government Unit of Davao de Oro were Maco Mayor Voltaire Rimando and Municipal Indigenous People Mandatory Representative Albert Camana,; also present were Indigenous Political Structure (IPS) Chairman of Mansaka Tribe Matikadong Rolando Casigluman, Mansaka and Kagan Tribe members of Limpong and Federation of Leaders (LFL); NTF ELCAC IP Focal Person Jessa Mae Cisostomo, Bawan Jake Lanes of Mindanao Quick Reaction Team (MQRT), and representatives of Mindanao Indigenous Peoples Youth Organization (MIPYO).

During the activity, the NCIP Chairperson was assigned to be Inducting Officer of the community organized Technical Working Group (TWG) in partnership with NCIP and other Resource Persons in conducting series of Workshops – to enable Mansaka Tribe IPS to create policy guidelines for sustainable Peace and Development, institutionalizing the 11 Building Blocks resilient, responsive, and relevant Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) within their Ancestral Domains/Ancestral Lands (ADs/ALs).

Local Chief Executive Mayor Voltaire Rimando expressed his gratitude to the ICCs/IPs and NCIP established relationship and partnership with LGU.

Mansaka ICCs/IPs is already benefiting Royalties from APEX Mining Corporation operating inside the Ancestral Domain.

To conclude the festival, Mansaka Tribe and Kagan Tribe shall create policies to fully operationalize 11 Building Blocks and continue Healing and Reconciliation workshops locally known as “Baraw-baraw” to resolve conflicts through customary laws.
