12 June 2023 | The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) participated in the Parada ng Kalayaan – a parade of National Government Agencies and Local Government Units as part of the country’s celebration of its 125th Independence Day at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.
Officers and staff of the NCIP Central Office and NCIP Regional Office IV-A and IV-B attended the celebration.
With the theme, “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan” the month-long celebration is a remembrance of our country’s quest for freedom and the lessons it has entailed for us, as a nation – as our guideposts for a better future for all Filipinos.
In his speech, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. emphasized the efforts of the nation’s ancestors to defend freedom; further, the President underscored that it is the responsibility of every Filipino to defend its country amidst new oppressors and challenges. He committed that his administration will lead the country to “real freedom” through the implementation of wise policies leading to freedom from fear and neglect – uplifting the lives of every Filipino.
The NCIP’s participation solidifies its commitment to represent Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) as part of the country’s continued quest for freedom and nation-building.
