NCIP PARTNERSHIP EXPLORATORY MEETING WITH SOROK UNI FOUNDATION, INC.

The NCIP through the Socio-Economic Development Division, headed Ms. Glenda A. Pua, together with Ms. Maribel Dato meets for an exploratory meeting the Sorok Uni Foundation, Inc. represented by its Executive Director, Ms. April P. Castillo together with a Community Social Worker, Ms. Camille Villanueva.
The Sorok Uni Foundation is a Non-Government Organization duly registered and licensed by the DSWD to operate as a social welfare agency providing auxiliary social services in CALABARZON, MIMAROPA and Zamboanga. Sorok Uni Foundation aims to emancipate forgotten neighbors in the Philippines from social stigma and lowest level of poverty through empowerment and building sustainable communities.
The Foundation works for and with persons affected with leprosy, homeless and displaced families, underprivileged children and disadvantaged indigenous peoples of the Philippines.
During the meeting, Ms. Castillo mentioned that they have been helping the Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) particularly the Alangan ICCs/IPs in MIMAROPA. She further expressed that Sorok Uni Foundation will continue to help them and expand their assistance through education, provision of livelihood and other social support interventions that would lift their economic and living conditions.
At the end of the meeting, representatives from the NCIP and Sorok Uni Foundation agreed to recommend a formal partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement or MOA to the leadership of their respective agencies.
