The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) strongly condemns the tragic deaths of two soldiers in Basilan, one of whom was a member of the Erumanen ne Menuvu Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) in North Cotabato. This senseless loss of lives is deeply saddening and our heartfelt sympathies go out to their families and comrades.
We stand in solidarity with the families and communities affected by this incident, and we call for a thorough investigation to bring justice to those responsible. The NCIP reaffirms its commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of our indigenous peoples, and we urge all parties to respect the sanctity of life and uphold peace in all communities. The tragic events in Basilan remind us of the importance of unity, understanding, and dialogue in promoting lasting peace and security for all.
