Porac – The NCIP Pampanga Community Service Center and Department of Information and Communications Technology – Pampanga, in cooperation with the Porac Local Government Unit successfully launched the IP Youth Digital Literacy Project with selected Ayta Mag-indi and Ayta Mag-antsi Indigenous Peoples Youth of CADT 123.
Today’s launching activities at Barangay Inararo included (1) introductory lectures on information and communications technology, computer essentials, internet and data privacy, and (2) hands-on activities on laptop computer hardware and software.
Mr. Relito Laxamana, representative of the Porac LGU reiterated the local government’s pursuit of inclusive development highlighting the untapped potential of the CADT 123 including its IP Youth. DICT Pampanga Director Mr. Edriel Miranda expressed the agency’s continuing development support to Indigenous Cultural Communities through ICT and hoped to replicate the project to the two other Ancestral Domains in the province of Pampanga. For its part, NCIP Pampanga Chief Mr. Kevin Fonseca thanked both partners and committed to sustain this pioneering digital literacy initiative.
It can be recalled that last May 17, 2022, the Porac Indigenous Peoples Technology for Economic Development (TECH4ED) Center, a first of its kind, was launched to serve as an ICT hub for the Ayta Mag-indi and Ayta Mag-antsi ICCs/IPs of CADT 123. The IP Youth Digital Literacy Project was conceptualized later on to sustain the foundation laid down by the IP TECH4ED Center.
This first batch of digital literacy training will run until July 22, 2022.
