Presidential Management Staff (PMS) Technical Coordination Meeting on Indigenous Peoples Concern
The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) attended the PMS Technical Coordination Meeting on Indigenous Peoples on 03 March 2023 at the Presidential Management Staff (PMS) Building, Metro Manila.
NCIP Chairperson Allen Capuyan presented the Agency’s mandate, programs, and future plans, milestone accomplishments, and the operationalization of the 11 Building Blocks of Resilient, Responsive, and Relevant Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) in their Ancestral Domains (AD). He also elaborated the current burning issues and concerns of ICCs/IPs in their respective ADs.
Representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, National Security Agency, National Taskforce to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity, and Philippine National Police were also present during the meeting.
To cap the meeting, agencies agreed on several points of improvements and ways forward which shall be presented to the Office of the President on their next meeting.
After the meeting NCIP Chairperson turned over sets of Project Epanaw’s three Coffee Table Books, copies of NCIP’s Annual Reports and posters of the 11 Building Blocks.
