PRESS RELEASE OF NCIP RELATIVE TO THE SIGNING OF MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH GLOBAL GREEN GROWTH INSTITUTE

The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, in partnership with the Global Green Growth Institute, will be formalizing its partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.
 
The main objective of the understanding is to provide a framework of cooperation and to facilitate collaboration between NCIP and GGGI including exchange of experience, technology, information, and human resources that will result in the promotion of sustainable development and the empowerment of Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples. Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is a treaty-based international, inter-governmental organization established in 2012 whose aim is to deliver transformational strategies in reducing poverty, environmental sustainability, and economic and inclusive green growth by supporting scalable and investable projects of developing, emerging, and least developed countries.
 
The ceremonial signing scheduled on February 22, 2024 at the Global Green Growth Institute Headquarters, Seoul, Republic of South Korea will be witnessed and participated by delegates from the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples led by Ethnographic Commissioners Hon. Gaspar A. Cayat and Hon. Atty. Rhodex P. Valenciano. Further, Dr. Dae Gu Jeon, Senior Adviser on Climate Change -Office of Commissioner Albert Dela Cruz of the Climate Change Commission will likewise be in attendance during the significant occasion.
 
In summary, the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples recognizes the need for harmonious synergy between sustainable economic growth and cultural preservation. Thus, the agency strongly supports the partnership offered by GGGI for it will aid in the promotion of the interest and well-being of our ICCs/IPs with due regard to their beliefs, customs, traditions, and institutions.
