The NCIP through the Socio-Economic Development Division, headed by Ms. Glenda Alcantara Pua, together with Ms. Dana Lim hosted a meeting with the JCI Surigao Nickel represented by its Local Organization Presidents, Mr. Henry Ace Kang (2020) and Mr. Ramon Isagani Bautista III (2023) and their Secretary, Mr. Joseph Christian Mordeno.
The JCI Surigao Nickel is under the umbrella of JCI Philippines with an existing partnership agreement with the NCIP since 2021. It is part of a global non-profit organization created for enterprising individuals ages 18-40 with over 500,000 members in more than 100 countries. They focus on professional development, economic opportunities, and creative solutions to address problems across all levels of society.
During the meeting, possible collaboration on livelihood, entrepreneurship, education and other community needs interventions such as nutrition, health, infrastructure and cultural preservation were discussed. Provinces of Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Norte, Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon were identified areas should the collaboration be pushed through for the year 2023.
At the end of the meeting, the NCIP turned over 3 volumes of the Coffee Table Books to JCI representatives. They also agreed to meet again on January 26, 2023 for planning and identification of need-based projects, activities and interventions to ICCs/IPs in the selected priority provinces.
The Legal Affairs Office represented by its Bureau Director, Atty. Gillian Dunuan, Ms. Adelita Gawilan of OECH and Ms. Shiela Grace Anog from OED also joined the discussion.
