THE NCIP PARTICIPATED IN THE 1st JOINT NAC & NTWG FIELD VISITATIONS 2023
 
The NCIP is represented by Acting Bureau Director Glenda Alcantara Pua and Ms. Maribel Dato, DMO II of the Office on Socio-Economic Services and Special Concerns in the 1st Joint National Advisory Council (NAC) and National Technical Working Group (NTWG) Field Visitations for 2023 held in Samar and Leyte on April 25 to 28, 2023.
 
This is a convergence activity that aims to address the implementation gaps and needed interventions of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of DSWD through the support of the following NGAs and NGOs: DBM, DOH, DTI, DAR, DILG, DOST, DOLE, DA, NCIP, CHED, UNIFAST, CWC, PCW, BARMM, NAPC, NEDA, TESDA, NNC, PopCom, Save the Children, and Plan International.
 
One of the highlights of the activity is the community visit in the Mamanwa Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) in Sitio Wespal, Brgy. Guirang, Basey Samar.
 
The Municipality of Basey has a total of 35 migrant IP Families belonging to Mamanwa ICCs/IPs whose roots and origin are from Surigao. Of 35 IP Families, 32 are 4Ps beneficiaries, and out of the 32, 2 IP families have already graduated from the program in 2022.
 
During the visit, Acting Director Pua took advantage of the opportunity to have a brief dialogue with the Mamanwa ICCs/IPs to know their situation and listen to their issues and concerns for the immediate and appropriate action of the NCIP. The LGU of Basey through MSWDO Head, Ms. Welma Sacres also brought to the attention of NCIP their issues and concerns about the false claims and misrepresentations of alleged ICCs/IPs for the immediate attention and/or possible legal action.
