Mr. Ronald Mascariñas was bestowed the title Datu Timbawong which means “provider”, by the Obu Manuvu tribe in a tribal investiture ceremony in Marilog, Davao City on June 15, 2023. This is the tribe’s recognition of his efforts and initiatives in advancing the economic development in the ancestral domain and for establishing deep relationship and communication to the Obu Manuvu ICCs/IPs, thus, this conferment from Obu Manuvu Unified Ancestral Domain Tribal Council of Elders/Leaders.
He was given handcrafted vestments which are symbolic of his adoption to the tribe, a head gear or tangkulo as a symbol of authority to provide development in the IP community and the necklace or a bead as a symbol of acceptance of the relationship he established with the community.
