12 JUNE 2023 | NCIP PARTICIPATES IN THE NALIYAGAN FESTIVAL TRIBAL WEDDING
In the annual commemoration of Naliyagan Festival, the Provincial Local Government Unit of Agusan del Sur has devoted a day of its week-long celebration solely for the ICCs/IPs of Agusan del Sur called the Aedow/Aldaw tu mgo Tribong AgSurnon (Day of the ICCs/IPs of Agusan del Sur).
The tribal wedding commenced with procession of the entourage led by the Chairperson as the activity’s guest of Honor and the Provincial Government Officials of Agusan del Sur.
The tribal wedding has culturally and legally bounded “38 Mgo Kasyonon (engaged couples)” from the four major ethno-linguistics of the province, the Manobo, Talaandig, Banwaon, and Higaonon ICCs/IPs, who were solemnized by Datu Tumawan Raul M. Minglana, Municipal Tribal Chieftain of San Luis, Agusan del Sur.
The ceremony was administered in their customary and traditional ways in accordance with the wedding ritual.
