Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) paid a Courtesy Visit to the NCIP

19 October 2023 | Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) visited the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Central Office to know more about the NCIP’s programs, initiatives, and activities, and to have an understanding of the Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples’ (ICCs/IPs) situation in the country.

The WCS’ mission is to save the wildlife and wild places worldwide through science, conservation action, education, and inspiring people to value nature. The organization envisions a world where wildlife thrives in healthy lands and seas, valued by societies that embrace and benefit from the biodiversity and integrity of life on earth.

The visit facilitated initial discussions on a project aiming for inclusivity and wildlife conservation while ensuring the recognition, respect, protection, and promotion of indigenous peoples rights and way of life being one with nature.

Opportunities for synergy were also discussed; among are series of consultations and dialogues with key stakeholders and concerned ICCs/IPs to ensure a meaningful and inclusive participation, which will enable a common vision for a more responsive, secured, and resilient future for all – where wildlife is thriving and culturally valued.
